Advance tickets let you book future travel at cheaper prices. They are always for one-way, single journeys, to get you from A to B. If you need to return too, you’ll need to buy two advance single train tickets.

Advance tickets are available for most journeys across the country.

We have Advance tickets for journeys where our trains provide a direct link across South East England, including Gatwick and Luton Airports. Click here for more information on Advance fares.

Here are some of the benefits of booking advance tickets:

  • No last-minute worries about travel arrangements

  • 1/3 off all advance fares for some Railcard holders

When can I use Advance rail tickets?

If you buy an Advance train ticket, you must travel on the date, time and service shown. Do you need to change the date or time you set off? No problem, you can change your departure times. You just need to pay any difference in fare plus an administration fee.

Don’t forget, Advance rail tickets are non-refundable, so make sure your trip is going ahead before you book.
