Railcards

Railcards get you 1/3 off many fares for just £30 a year. They’re available online or from your local station.

Important notice: If you’re having trouble buying a Railcard online and you’re due to travel shortly, you can buy most 1-year Railcards at any staffed National Rail ticket office (see individual Railcard websites for details). Veterans railcard

Save 1/3 on rail fares with a Veterans Railcard. Nominate a travel companion and they'll get 1/3 off when travelling with you, plus up to 4 children save 60%

A new card offering a 50% discount for 16-17 year-olds is now on sale. If you hold a 16-17 Saver you can now purchase single and return tickets online

The Family and Friends Railcard is great for travelling in a group – you could even save money on just a couple of journeys.

Disabled Persons railcard

If you have a disability that makes train travel difficult, you can get a Disabled Persons Railcard.

16-25 Railcard

You can get this railcard if you’re aged 16 to 25, or if you’re 26 and in full-time education.

26-30 railcard

If you are aged 26-30 the National Rail 26-30 Railcard will save you 1/3 on leisure journeys across Britain for just £30 a year. It is the first digital-only Railcard and it will be available to buy online and downloaded to the Railcard app on a smartphone. Once downloaded you can then start travelling (and saving) straight away, with no need to wait for the post.

Network railcard

If you mainly travel in London and South East England, the Network railcard could be for you. For just £30 a year it gives you 1/3 off travel in a huge area – from the Essex and Kent coasts to Exeter in the west, King’s Lynn in the north and Brighton in the south.

Senior Railcard

If you’re over 60 you can get a Senior Railcard. It costs £30 a year, or £70 for a three-year card.

The card will give you 1/3 off travel around Britain

This includes all Standard and First Class tickets.

Two Together Railcard

If you travel a lot with another person, a Two Together railcard costs £30 a year and gives you 1/3 off train fares around Britain.

This includes all adult Standard and First Class tickets.

You both have to be over 16, and you have to travel together, but you don’t have to be related.
