GroupSave overview

If you’re travelling in a group of 3-9 adults, GroupSave gives you a 1/3 discount on Off-Peak standard class travel. Book your tickets in a single online order and you’ll automatically get the GroupSave discount if it’s available.

Benefits 

  • Save money: Get 1/3 off adult fares when travelling in a group of three to nine adults during off-peak times. 
  • Flexible travel: Valid across off-peak times during weekdays, weekends, and Bank Holidays, making it ideal for leisure trips, work outings, or family days out. 
  • Family-friendly: Up to two children under 5 travel free per adult, and up to four children aged 5–15 can travel for £2 each on selected journeys. 
  • Wide network coverage: GroupSave tickets are accepted across London and the South East on participating train operators including: Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern, Southeastern, Greater Anglia, c2c, Chiltern Railways, Gatwick Express, Great Western Railway, Island Line, London Northwestern, London Overground and South Western Railway. 
  • Extended return flexibility: GroupSave can be used on Off-Peak Returns valid for up to one calendar month, offering more flexibility for longer trips. 

When can I use GroupSave? 

GroupSave is valid during Off-Peak times on weekdays outside of the busiest travel periods, as well as anytime on weekends and Bank Holidays. As Off-Peak times vary by route, it’s best to use the journey planner to check which trains are valid for your trip. 

Things to remember 

  • Group size: GroupSave is available for groups of three to nine adults. For ten or more, split into smaller groups, or speak to a member of staff at a ticket office for information. 
  • Group travel: All passengers must travel together at all times, including any changes. Travelling separately may result in a penalty fare. If not all members of the group can travel, you’ll need to refund all tickets and rebook. Individual GroupSave tickets cannot be refunded separately. 
  • Travel time restrictions: GroupSave is valid during off-peak times only. 
  • First Class: GroupSave is available on standard fares only, not First Class. 
  • London Travelcard restrictions: GroupSave Travelcards are only valid from stations outside London. You cannot buy them within London Fare Zones 1–6. 
  • Railcards: Railcards cannot be used in conjunction with GroupSave for additional discounts. 
  • Child £2 fare exclusions: Not valid on Gatwick Express. Not valid on most other operators except for travel within London Zones 1–6 using an Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak Day Travelcard. 
  • Availability: GroupSave may not be available on some days or services during major events, for more information visit the National Rail website or speak to rail staff at stations.
