Services between Eastbourne and London Bridge – Monday to Thursday

To improve connectivity and increase capacity, we are introducing a new morning and evening peak service between Eastbourne and London Bridge.

The morning service will leave Eastbourne at 06:47 and arrive at London Bridge at 08:25. The return service will leave London Bridge at 17:03 and arrive back in Eastbourne at 18:35.

Between Eastbourne and London, the service will call at Hampden Park, Polegate, Berwick, Glynde, Lewes, Cooksbridge, Plumpton, Haywards Heath, Three Bridges and East Croydon.

Services between Sydenham and London Bridge – Monday to Friday

To increase peak capacity on the busy route between Sydenham and London Bridge, we are introducing additional services between Norwood Junction and London Bridge via Sydenham.

In the morning, there will be an additional service from Norwood Junction which calls at all intermediary stations and arrives at London Bridge at 09:03. In the evening, we are introducing an additional departure from London Bridge at 18:10 towards Sutton, which will stop at all stations between London Bridge and Norwood Junction.

This builds on the improvements we made in December 2024, where we added three extra morning peak services and two extra evening peak services on this route.

Services via Carshalton Beeches and Tulse Hill – Monday to Friday

The 07:00 service from Sutton to London Bridge via Tulse Hill will now call at Carshalton Beeches and Waddon, giving passengers an additional option for their journeys.

The existing 08:27 Selhurst to London Bridge via Tulse Hill will now start at 08:00 at Sutton on weekdays, and will also call at Wallington and West Croydon.

Services between East Grinstead and London Victoria – Monday to Friday

To make it easier for people to travel during the middle of the day, services between East Grinstead and London Victoria will now be half-hourly during the middle of the day on weekdays, rather than hourly.

This change will apply Monday to Friday during school holidays, and on Thursday and Friday during term time.

Extra calls for Portchester Station

To improve connectivity for the station, Portchester will be added as a stop to more of our services between Brighton and Southampton, providing a half-hourly service during weekday peak times and throughout the day on Saturdays.

Extra calls for stations between Havant and Chichester

We are improving early morning journeys towards Portsmouth for the stations between Havant and Chichester with extra stops on an early morning service between Gatwick Airport and Portsmouth Harbour. On weekdays, this service will call at Warblington at 07:29. On weekends, it will call at 07:30 at Warblington, alongside additional calls at Fishbourne, Bosham and Nutbourne.

Extra call for Wivelsfield Station – Monday to Friday

To improve connections to Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings, there will be an extra call at Wivelsfield on a morning service towards Ore. The 06:46 service from London Victoria to Ore will now stop at Wivelsfield at 07:38 before continuing towards Eastbourne and Ore.

Services between Brighton, Eastbourne and Ore – Saturday

There will be an additional early morning service between Brighton, Eastbourne and Ore. The existing 06:23 Eastbourne to Ore service will now start at Brighton at 05:37 and call at Lewes, Polegate and Hampden Park before continuing on to Ore.

Services between Gatwick Airport, Reigate and London Victoria – Monday to Friday

The 05:52 weekday service from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria attaches to a Reigate to London Victoria service at Redhill. The Gatwick Airport portion of this service will now start at Three Bridges at 05:47.

Services between Peterborough and Horsham – Knebworth calls Monday to Friday

Morning peak Thameslink services between Peterborough and Horsham will stop at Knebworth to provide faster journeys times towards St Pancras International and central London for Knebworth.

The below provides a summary of the main changes customers will see in December. 

King’s Lynn / Ely to London King’s Cross

Departure times have changed to support faster journey times by up to seven minutes – both during peak and off-peak hours.

Cambridge / Letchworth to London King’s Cross

In peak hours, the current half-hourly stopping service between Cambridge and London King’s Cross will be replaced by two new services, both of which will run at a half-hourly frequency, doubling the capacity on this key route.

The two new service groups will be formed of:

A half-hourly Cambridge to King’s Cross semi-fast peak service.

A half-hourly semi-fast service will operate between Cambridge and London King’s Cross in peak hours, providing faster journey times between London and stations between Cambridge and Welwyn North.

These services will call at Foxton, Shepreth, Meldreth, Royston, Ashwell & Morden, Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin and Welwyn North.

To provide faster journeys between London and Knebworth, these services will call at Knebworth in the afternoon/evening peak (when travelling from London King’s Cross to Cambridge).

A half-hourly Letchworth Garden City to London King’s Cross stopping peak service

A second half-hourly service will operate between Letchworth Garden City and London King’s Cross in peak hours, providing additional capacity for customers.

These services will call at Hitchin, Stevenage, Knebworth, Welwyn North, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Potters Bar, Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park.

These services will call at New Barnet in the morning to provide additional capacity, and one morning and one evening service will be extended to Royston to improve connectivity.

Peterborough to London King’s Cross – Monday to Friday

Weekday peak Great Northern services between Peterborough and London King’s Cross, which call at Huntingdon, St Neots, Biggleswade and Stevenage, will remain at five services per morning and afternoon/evening.  

The current 08:05 service from Peterborough will be brought forward to provide an earlier fast service, departing Peterborough at 05:43.

Stevenage via Hertford North to Moorgate – Monday to Friday

Two existing weekday morning departures from Gordon Hill towards Moorgate will start from Hertford North to provide additional capacity at Hertford North, Bayford, Cuffley and Crews Hill in the early morning peak.

There are no significant changes to Gatwick Express services.
