Your new Thameslink seats are coming

More comfort, better journeys

We've listened to passenger feedback and developed new comfier seats.

Tested by Thameslink passengers, new cushions have over a third more ‘give’.

Improved backrests with wings provide better support for shoulders and heads, helping make journeys more comfortable.

From 2027, we are upgrading more than 60,000 Thameslink seats.

What's new?

  • Softer, more supportive seat cushions
  • More comfort on longer journeys
  • Better leg and thigh support
  • Improved head and shoulder support

Developed with passenger feedback in mind

The upgraded seats feature new cushioning, including pocket springs, memory foam and a softer fire barrier fabric.

Together, these improvements provide over a third more ‘give’ than the current seats, helping make journeys more comfortable.

The design was developed with customer feedback in mind and tested with Thameslink passengers, including people with a range of mobility, dexterity, vision and hearing needs.

The upgrade of more than 60,000 seats will be delivered over two years, starting in 2027, as part of the Thameslink fleet refurbishment programme being carried out by Siemens Mobility.
