2025 Plan Update

The GTR Station Social & Commercial Development Plan (SSCDP) sets out our vision for making the best use of space across our stations—whether for commercial opportunities, community initiatives, or to improve the passenger experience. First introduced in 2022 as a 10-year strategy, this plan is reviewed annually to ensure we adapt to changing industry, customer, and social needs.

The 2025 update highlights the progress we’ve made, our ongoing commitments, and the next steps in delivering meaningful station developments across the network.

Key Deliverables for 2025

  • Expanding EV charging points – modern, supplier-funded chargers now installed at 24 locations.
  • Developing urban hubs – new parcel lockers, community spaces, and retail units added across the network.
  • Encouraging local businesses – prioritising a mix of independent retailers and national brands.
  • Flexible leasing – introducing short-term agreements to support start-ups and social enterprises.
  • Growing vending & retail offers – increasing convenience for passengers with more 24/7 service options.
  • Community partnerships – working with charities and local groups on station improvement projects.

Next Steps

We will continue building on the progress made, exploring new opportunities to make the best use of station spaces and working with stakeholders to support both commercial and community initiatives. Our approach will remain flexible to adapt to changing needs and priorities across the network.
